How do Gift/Loyalty Cards Work?

Both your Loyalty and gift card programs can be kept track of on the same card.

Loyalty Cards:

Many  businesses now use a loyalty program to award points to their customers.

These points can later be redeemed for a reward  or discount.  Points can either be awarded per visit to your business, or you can award a point for every dollar that is spent.  Once your customer obtains the number of points that you set,  you can issue them a reward or discount.  You may also speak with our marketing expert to design or assist you in the design of a custom program for your business.  It is not necessary to purchase new equipment.  Your gift and loyalty card program can be used with the same equipment that you use for your credit cards.

How Loyalty Cards Work?

example:
  1. Your customer makes a purchase.
  2. The Loyalty card is swiped through the credit card machine.
  3. Points are added to the card
  4. When your customer has earned the pre-set number of points, you will present them with an award.
  5. You may either clear the Loyalty card so your customer can start over earning points, or you may allow your customer to continue earning points in order to achieve a larger award.

Gift Cards:

Gift Cards work on the same concept as paper gift certificates.

It is a stored value card.  Your customer will pay you up front for future goods/services.  With paper certificates people were buying these as gifts only; however, with gift cards, business owners have  found that customers will buy these cards for themselves, as well as for their friends and family. Your gift and loyalty card program can be used with the same equipment that you use for your credit cards.

How Gift Cards Work?

example:
  1. Your customer pays you $250 for a gift card.
  2. You swipe a card and enter $250
  3. Two receipts print out - one for you, and one for your customer.
  4. You may choose to present the card in a card sleeve or a custom envelope.
  5. Lets say your customer comes back to spend $50.  You will swipe the card and enter $50.  Two  receipts print.  They show that your customer just spent $50 and that the remaining balance is $200.

Note:  A balance inquiry can be obtained at any time by swiping the card.  A receipt will print indicating remaining balance / points that is left on the card.  You may continue to add and deduct value / points from any card.  Your cards may be reused and reissued multiple times.

Note:
The card balance and points information is stored on our server.  There is no information stored on the actual card.  When you swipe the card, the credit card machine will dial out to the server and add or subtract value / points from the card number that we have on file.  The magnetic stripe on the card only contains the card number.
